i3Dfolio is built around one principle: your data belongs to you. Everything stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.
What We Collect
Short answer: nothing leaves your device. i3Dfolio processes all data locally on your iPhone. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or process your data.
Data Processed On Your Device
The following data is accessed and processed entirely on your device to provide the app's functionality:
- Camera & LiDAR — Used during 3D scanning to capture depth and visual data. Frames are processed in real time and stored locally in your app's private storage.
- Location — An approximate GPS position and compass heading are captured at the start of each scan. This is stored locally with your scan data for orientation reference (e.g., north arrow on floor plans). Location is never transmitted.
- Photos — When you import an underlay image for floor plan editing, it is copied into the app's local storage. The app does not access your full photo library.
- Motion sensors — Accelerometer and gyroscope data is used during scanning for drift detection and quality scoring. This data is processed in real time and not persisted beyond the scan session.
Data Storage
All your scans, 3D models, floor plans, photos, and project data are stored in the app's private container on your device. Files use the .i3dfolio bundle format and are only accessible through the app or via iOS file sharing when you choose to export them.
Data Sharing
i3Dfolio does not share any data with third parties. When you use the Share function, iOS presents the system share sheet — the app does not control or track what you do with the shared file.
No Analytics or Tracking
The current version of i3Dfolio does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. We do not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, or behavioral data.
If we add analytics in the future, it will be privacy-respecting (no personal data collection), and this policy will be updated before any such change.
No Accounts or Authentication
i3Dfolio does not require an account, login, or registration. There is no user profile, no email collection, and no sign-in with third-party services.
Third-Party Services
i3Dfolio does not integrate with any third-party services that receive your data. The app uses the following open-source libraries for on-device processing only:
- OpenCV (Apache 2.0) — Image feature extraction for pose refinement, processed entirely on device.
- MetalSplatter (MIT) — 3D Gaussian Splat rendering, processed entirely on device.
On-Device AI
i3Dfolio uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models for features like automatic project naming. This AI processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in models. No data is sent to any server — not even to Apple — for this functionality.
Children's Privacy
i3Dfolio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Significant changes (such as adding cloud features or analytics) will be communicated through the app.
